Jerusalem The Capital of Israel
The name of this city has been in the hearts of Muslims, Jews and Christians for centuries. The city is known as Jerusalem in Hebrew and Al-Quds in Arabic, and is one of the oldest cities in the world.
The city was captured, demolished and rebuilt several times. That is why there is a history in the layers of this land.
Four parts
Today, Jerusalem is divided between people of different faiths and has made headlines because of conflicts, while the city's history also connects them.
There is an ancient city in the center of the city. It is divided into four sections
Christian,
Islamic,
Jewish and
Armenian
It is surrounded by a wall with many sacred places in the world. And each part has its own specific population.
Christians have two areas because Armenians are also Christians. The oldest of all is Armenia.
It is also the oldest center of Armenian descent. Armenians have preserved their history and culture in St. James Church and Monastery.
The Holy Sepulcher Church in the Christian area is the
Church of the Holy Sepulcher .
The story of the first church Holy Sepulcher Church in the Christian area is the
Church of the Holy Sepulcher , a place of worship that is revered by Christians around the world. According to tradition, Jesus was crucified here.
This is called the mountain of calories and according to some traditions his tomb is here and according to some he was taken up to heaven from here.
The church is managed by various denominations of the Christian community, particularly the Greek Orthodox Patriarch, the Roman Catholic Church's Franciscan Friars and the Armenian Patriarch, as well as the Ethiopian, Coptic and Syrian Orthodox Church.
Millions of people come here every year and repent with prayer.
Mosque
The Muslim area is the largest of the four areas and is home to the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. It is located on a plateau which Muslims call Haram-ul-Sharif or Holy House.Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam and is managed by an Islamic trust. Waqf is the responsibility of Jordan.
Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) had ascended from here.
Every day thousands of Muslims come to this holy place and offer prayers. They are very numerous here during the month of Ramadan and on Fridays.
Wall
In the Jewish area there is a fort or western wall. This is the rest of the Wall of the Mount. The Jews believe that their holy place was once there.
According to the Jews, it was the 'Holy of Holies', the holiest place for Jews.
The Jews believe that this is the place from which the universe was created and it was here that the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) prepared the sacrifice of his son Isaac (peace be upon him). Many Jews believe that the Dome of the Rock is the Holy of Holies.
Today, the Western Wall is the closest place to the Jewish place from which Jews feel close to the Holy of Holies. It is managed by the Western Wall, which is visited by millions of Jews from around the world each year.
The city is important not only religiously but also diplomatically and politically. Most Israelis recognize Jerusalem as their capital, undivided and without participation. Israel was established as a country in 1948. At that time, the Israeli parliament was established in the western part of the city. In the 1967 war, Israel also occupied East Jerusalem. At the same time, the ancient city came under Israeli occupation, but its occupation was not recognized internationally.
Israel's sovereignty over Jerusalem has never been recognized, and Israeli leaders continue to express their frustration. The rights of Palestinians and Muslims have been usurped by the Jews. And the Palestinians call East Jerusalem their future capital. And the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks include agreeing to it.This peace process is also seen as a solution to the two-nation ideology. It envisions the creation of an independent Palestinian state on the pre-1967 border. It is also enshrined in UN resolutions.
One-third of Jerusalem's population is Palestinian, and many families have lived there for centuries. The construction of ghettos in the eastern part of the city is a source of real controversy. The construction is illegal under international law, but Israel denies it.
The international community has been saying for decades that any change in the status of Jerusalem can only come through peace talks. Therefore, the embassies of all countries in Israel are located in Tel Aviv and there are only consulates in Jerusalem.
As the peace talks unfold, Israel continues to expand its occupation. The recent West Jordan plan, which has become a point of contention in the Israeli parliament, Israeli members believe that Jordan and Egypt should be included in the plan so as not to cause mass destruction. And the Muslims should be killed inside and the world should not know that Al-Aqsa Mosque should also be captured and demolished.
